The Giddings&Lewis 501-02984-01 interface board is a key module in the PiC series control system that enables "cross device signal interoperability". It can be regarded as the "signal translator" and "bidirectional transmission bridge" between the control system and external devices. Its core function is to solve the problem of signal adaptation between different devices and modules: on the one hand, it accurately receives raw signals (such as digital instructions and logic signals) from PiC controllers or input modules, and converts them into electrical signals that can be recognized by lower level devices (such as actuators and sensors) through internal conversion circuits; On the other hand, real-time feedback signals from external devices (such as position feedback and status signals) are received, processed, and transmitted back to the control system, forming a complete signal loop of "instruction issuance feedback reception" to ensure the coordinated operation of the control system and external devices.

For example, in an automated production line, it is possible to simultaneously receive input signals from three position sensors (to determine whether the material is in place), and send output control signals to two conveyor belt motors and one sorting cylinder without the need for time-sharing processing, greatly improving signal transmission efficiency and meeting the complex control requirements of multi device synchronization and collaboration.
Signal type adaptation: It has flexible signal compatibility and can stably process digital signals (such as switch on/off signals, high/low level instructions) and logic signals (such as timing trigger signals, pulse control signals). Whether it is simple device start stop instructions or logic control signals that require precise timing matching (such as tool switching trigger signals for CNC machine tools), the module can accurately recognize, convert, and transmit them, adapt to the signal interaction requirements in different industrial scenarios, and reduce the difficulty of system integration.
