The Motorola MVME147-022 is a classic VMEbus controller module in the MVME147 series, essentially a highly integrated 32-bit embedded single board computer (SBC). Its core positioning is the "dual role hub" of the VME system - serving as the central processing unit (CPU) responsible for real-time computing and multitasking scheduling, as well as the VME bus system controller function, responsible for bus arbitration, interrupt management, and resource allocation, adapting to scenarios such as industry, power, and national defense that require strict "reliability+real-time+bus control capabilities". It is the core component for building independent control units in early VME architecture systems.
1、 Core technical characteristics
1. Real time computing capability of 68030 architecture
Processor core: Equipped with Motorola MC68030 industrial grade CPU, with a typical clock frequency of 25 MHz, integrated 256B instruction cache and 256B data cache, supporting 32-bit address/data bus, and equipped with virtual memory management unit (MMU):
Can efficiently run real-time control algorithms (such as PID regulation and logic interlocking), complete basic operations within a single instruction cycle, and meet the "millisecond level response" requirements of industrial equipment;
Optional MC68882 floating-point coprocessor can be used to enhance floating-point computing capabilities (such as power parameter calculation and radar signal preprocessing), avoiding performance loss caused by software simulation of floating-point without a coprocessor.
Storage configuration:
DRAM memory: comes standard with 4 MB, expandable up to 16 MB, supports parity check (some versions), ensures data read and write accuracy, and meets temporary data caching requirements during multitasking;
Solid state storage: onboard EPROM/Flash (typical capacity 128 KB-1 MB), used to store boot programs (such as 147Bug monitoring firmware), operating system kernels, and basic drivers. Programs are not lost after power failure, and the system supports automatic startup when powered on.

As the core differentiation feature of MVME147-022, its integrated "VME System Controller" function can directly manage VME bus resources without the need for additional bus arbitration modules:
Bus arbitration: Supports priority arbitration (PRI) and loop arbitration (RR) modes, can manage up to 7 external VME main modules (such as other processor boards and communication modules), allocate bus usage rights based on task urgency (such as setting the "device fault protection" instruction to the highest priority), and avoid bus conflicts;
Interrupt management: Integrated VME interrupt controller, supports 7-level interrupt priority, can receive interrupt requests from modules (such as I/O boards, storage modules), schedule CPU responses according to priority, and ensure priority processing of high emergency events (such as sensor overload alarms);
