The Motorola MVME-717 is an industrial grade transmitter I/O module based on the VMEbus architecture, designed specifically for the MVME717 series of single board computers (SBC). Its core positioning is "the signal interaction hub of embedded systems" - by integrating digital/analog I/O channels, sensor/actuator adaptation interfaces, and industrial grade anti-interference design, it achieves "data acquisition instruction output" bidirectional interaction with external devices (such as sensors, relays, servo drives). (1) Digital I/O (DI/DO): High reliability switch signal interaction
Digital Input (DI): Typically supports 16-32 independent DI channels, with input levels compatible with TTL (5V)/industrial dry contacts (24V/48V). It can be directly connected to photoelectric sensors, limit switches, emergency stop buttons, and other devices to collect switch statuses such as "material in place", "equipment fault alarm", and "safety door switch";
The critical channel supports edge triggered interrupts (with programmable rising/falling edges). When external signals suddenly change (such as pressing the emergency stop button), the module actively sends a VME interrupt request to the CPU, with an interrupt response delay of ≤ 10 μ s, to avoid CPU polling occupying resources and ensure fast response to emergency events;
Digital Output (DO): Typically supports 8-16 independent DO channels, with output types of collector open circuit/push-pull output. Each channel has a maximum driving current of 500mA-1A and can directly drive relays, solenoid valves, indicator lights, and other actuators to achieve control actions such as "motor start stop", "valve switch", and "alarm light trigger";
The output end integrates overcurrent protection and short-circuit protection. When the load is short circuited (such as relay coil adhesion) or overcurrent occurs, the module automatically cuts off the output circuit (the protection threshold can be configured through software). After troubleshooting, it can be manually/automatically restored to avoid hardware burnout.
